Secondary reinforcement include polypropylene and steel fibres, cement and cement blends.

Polypropylene Fibres

Upon hardening the fibres provide additional benefits such as toughness and longer-term durability.

Typical uses include pavements, floor slabs and light industrial areas.

Steel Fibres

Steel Fibre-reinforced concrete is ideal for elements requiring high resistance to impact and abrasion. Upon hardening, the steel fibres provide superior resistance to cracking and maximum greater resistance to damage from heavy impact.

Typical uses include industrial floors and concrete structures.

Cement

Cement accounts for c.11% of the concrete and is available in three blends, with OPC providing the greatest strength.

  • PB – Pure Blend
  • OPC – Ordinary Portland Cement
  • PFA – Pulverised Fuel Ash

Cement Blends

GGBS – Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag or Fly Ash can be added to replace a percentage of the cement. This will ensure the concrete is less permeable and provide a greater resistance to aggressive conditions.
