MortarMortar

DTS mortars are able to provide RTU, Dry Silo and Lime Sand mixes as required by site, ensuring whatever the job, no matter how small or large the site, DTS has a solution.

RTU – Ready To Use

Ready To Use mortars from DTS are an ideal option for sites of any size, as construction can start before water and electricity are installed. There is also a much greater degree of flexibility in the supply, enabling changes to be made to the orders at a later stage than normal.

Ready To Use mortars could also save the site money. There are no set-up costs and no need for labour or mixing equipment on site, reducing waste and ensuring a cleaner working environment.

Plastic tubs will be supplied to the site that will hold c.0.3 cubic metres each. It is advisable that at least 2 extra tubs are ordered to ensure ease of transportation around the site.

Ordering could not be simpler, DTS will ask for a weekly plan of deliveries and then will continue to handle the project on your behalf until its conclusion.

There are three general mixes of RTU mortar

  • Class 1 – Below Ground
  • Class 2 – DPC Level
  • Class 3 – Above Ground

As a point of reference, 1 cubic metre of Ready To Use will suffice to lay approximately 1,500 standard frogged bricks, or approximately 1,000 standard size blocks. Please note, these quantities will vary depending on size of perforations in the bricks and the joint thickness used.

Dry Silo

For larger sites that already have water and electricity on site, Dry Silo Mortar is an option. Dry Silo Mortar will provide a precise colour and consistency throughout the job and negates the need for an on-site area to mix as all materials will be contained within the silo.

Dry Silo’s contain an integral mixer that uses water and electricity on the site to mix the cement and dried sand with admixtures as required. This ensures that only the required amount needs to be mixed at any one time.

Before a Dry Silo can be used, there must be water and electricity available on the site, and a concrete base must be in place of 3m x 3m x 0.5m on which the silo will sit.

Lime Sand Mortar

If the site wishes to mix the mortar themselves, lime and sand can be delivered in Bulk Bags or in skips to the site. Please be advised, this method can be very labour intensive and it is difficult to ensure a precise colour match on the site.

Coloured Mortar

With so many different brick and block designs available for the builder today, there is an increased demand for a flexible range of Mortars to ensure a truly unique finish.

In a large structure, coloured mortar provides welcome relief, overcoming the monotony of grey. Coloured options can also accentuate brick laying patterns, or subdue them to create a number of stunning visual effects.
